Tristan da Cunha, in the South Atlantic,

the most islolated inhabited island in the world, has captured my mind for decades. I've been there, looking at weird, flightless, endemic moorhens. Tristan also has potatoes, albatrosses, plenty of bad weather, nice stamps, penguins, crayfish, and a colourful history. There is no airport, and you may have to wait for years to obtain a place on board one of the ships that irregularly touch the island. That is, if they give you permission to land at all.......

Have a look at my books on Tristan and Antarctica. I can even tell you how to get to Tristan (and many other islands) on the Atlantic Odyssey.

  • My latest book about Tristan is The Remotest Island
